What Are My Rights When I don’t like the doctor Comp has sent me to 

Alabama Job Injury Lawyer What Are My Rights if I don’t like the doctor I am sent to see by the workers compensation adjuster?  As we have previously pointed out, except for certain circumstances, if you were hurt at work, you have to see the doctor the workers compensation insurance carrier sends you to; but what if you just don’t like the company doctor?

The Alabama Workers Compensation Statute realizes that there may be times when you may not be satisfied that the company doctor really has your best interest at heart, and that you may wish to see another doctor.  That is why our system allows the injured worker to request a new treating physician once during the pendency of their workers compensation claim.  This is done by requesting a Panel of Four Physicians; from this panel drawn up by the insurance carrier, you are allowed to pick one to act as your new authorized treating physician.

Since your right to use a Panel of Four is so limited, it is not something to be used at the drop of a hat.  Additionally, unless you work in the medical field, you probably do not know anything about the doctors provided in the panel.  What is their reputation with regard to workers compensation cases?  Is the doctor qualified to deal with your specific injury?  These are extremely important questions which should be dealt with before choosing a new doctor.
