Convenience Store Clerk Jobs amoung the Most Dangerous

In my experience-and as attested in the attached article- one of the jobs which leads to the most job injuries in Alabama is that of a convenience store clerk. At first glance, this may seem counter intuitive, but upon reflection it makes sense.

While iron workers, steel workers, construction workers, C.N.A.s and other jobs require more frequent lifting of heavier weight, an average convenience store worker engages in a lot of bending, lifting and stretching throughout every work day. I could not count the number of convenience store clerks who have contacted our firm for assistance after suffering a job injury that occurred while stocking the beer or sodas, or after tripping over merchandise in the floor. On top of this, convenience store clerks have a greater likelihood of being injured during a robbery than most other workers.

We routinely speak with convenience store workers who have suffered a herniated disk or torn rotator cuff suffered while performing their job duties, and many times, at the time they were injured, a supervisor or manager is not present.

If you are a convenience store clerk who has suffered a job injury, the first thing you need to do in let a supervisor know of your injury. Reporting an accident is not enough, you must inform them that you believe that you suffered an injury. While Alabama law allows you up to 90 days to report a job injury, the sooner the better. If your injury appears to be serious, then it would be in your best interest to at least speak with an experienced workers compensation lawyer about your rights.

If you live or work anywhere in Metro Birmingham* Alabama area as a convenience store clerk, you were hurt at work and have questions about your rights under the Alabama Workers Compensation Laws, don’t hesitate to the contact and speak with one of the experienced Birmingham Workers Compensation Lawyers at Powell and Denny today.
