The other day I was reviewing articles on workers compensation claims and came across the attached article.  In this news article, it states that Alabama ranks #6 among the States when it comes to job injuries.  Remember, with a population of just under 5 million, Alabama ranks 24^th in the Nation in population, so the number of work injuries reported here is concerning.

Alabama is known for our Iron and Steel plants, we have Coal mines that help power the country, we have become a major Automobile Manufacturer, we rank number 3 in the States that produce the most Lumber and we have an Amazon Warehouse.  These jobs, along with thousands of other jobs, can be heavy and hard work, often repetitive in nature and extremely dangerous.  That would help explain why we have so many more reported job injuries than the vast majority of the Nation, but our lax workers’ compensation laws are another reason we have more injuries in my opinion.

Alabama workers deserve better, but without voters demanding change, nothing will change.  For years the attorneys at Powell and Denny-along with other workers’ compensation attorneys-have been lobbying our Legislators in Montgomery, but to no avail.  Change really does have to come from the grass roots through our citizens contacting their State Legislators and demanding change.
