The other day I was reading various articles on workers’ compensation claims as is my wont, and I came across the attached article on the increase in the number of job-related injuries during winter months.  The article was from a Colorado newspaper, but the same holds true wherever winter weather strikes.

In Alabama, we don’t have a lot of winter weather, but when it hits-it hits us hard.  Snow, freezing rain, black ice, plummeting temperatures, these are unique factors that can easily led to job injuries.  During the winter, you often see an increase in injuries due to: Slip and Falls; Automobile Accidents; exposure/Hypothermia.  And dealing with the cold can led to lapses of focus or concentration, which can have consequences.

Workers whose job has them working outside-such as construction workers-really have to deal with more dangers during the wintertime, and it is important that they take frequent breaks in order to warm up.
