When I tell folks that I am a disability lawyer, I am generally met by a confused look and the statement “A disability lawyer?” For some reason people do not believe that practicing in the field of social security disability and workers’ compensation law sounds very interesting; but while there may not be any television dramas centered on disability law or movies showing the ever vigilant attorney fighting the large defense firms hired by the multi-million dollar workers’ compensation insurance carriers, at Powell and Denny we find disability law to be a challenging and rewarding endeavor.

When a client comes to us, their disability claim is one of the most important things in the world to them. They don’t want to have their claim handled by someone who dabbles with disability law, and they don’t want to meet and speak only with one of the attorney’s assistants. They want to know that they have hired a disability lawyer who is not only knowledgeable with the Social Security Codes and Alabama’s Workers’ Compensation Statute, but that their attorney will pursue their case with fervor.

We have decided to focus our practice on disability law; to helping those who are disabled obtain the disability benefits they need, to help those injured at work to receive the medical treatment they require and the compensation they need, to try to make our client’s life and that of their family better.
