Huntsville Workmans Compensation Lawyers Released by doctor but still in pain

Huntsville Workmans Compensation Lawyers Released by doctor but still in pain: If you suffered a work injury in Alabama, you are most likely entitled to workers compensation benefits, which include receiving medical treatment for your injuries. One of the most frustrating things an injured worker can face is being told by the company doctor that there is nothing more they can do for them while the injured worker is still suffering in pain.

Most doctors truly care for their patients and try to do all they can for injured workers (although a minority of them seem to be more interested in pleasing the workmans compensation insurance carrier than helping the injured worker get better), but you know your body better than anyone. If you are still hurting, there may be something this doctor missed that another doctor can find and fix. This is one of the reasons why in Alabama, an injured worker is allowed to ask for a new treating physician though a mechanism called a PANEL OF FOUR.

When the injured worker decides that they would like to have a new treating physician, they can request a panel of four from the workmans compensation insurance carrier, and the carrier is obligated to provide a list of four different physicians qualified to treat the type of work injury the worker if warranted, and continued pain is a valid reason. Having stated this, it is vitally important to realize that you can only ask for a Panel of Four one time during your workmans comp claim (twice if surgery has been recommended and you wish to have a second surgical opinion).

Since you only have one bit at the Panel of Four apple, you should not request one in a spur of the moment. Additionally, as we stated earlier, while most physicians will do their best to help you recover from your work injury-some have a definite bias in favor of the workmans comp carrier, and without any knowledge about the doctors on your panel, you could inadvertently pick one of the bad apples.

If you suffered a work injury and you have questions about your right to Alabama Workmans Compensation benefits, please do not hesitate to contact and talk to one of the experienced Alabama Workmans Comp lawyers at Powell and Denny today.
