Alabama Workmans Compensation Lawyer Who does the Doctor Care About

Alabama Workmans Compensation Lawyer Who does the Doctor Care About? Yesterday a client informed me that the company doctor he was told to see was talking to him about his post-surgery pain. The company doctor told my client that workers compensation patients always complain about pain until their settlement, and then remarkably they seem to get better. My client asked who the doctor cares about, as it obviously did not appear to be him. Unfortunately, this client is not the only one who has been told something similar by the company doctor they have been forced to seek treatment from for their work injuries.

While the majority of physicians who handle workmans compensation cases are good doctors who care about their patients, the fact remains that there is an underlying bias against workmans compensation patients with many company doctors.

Alabama's workmans compensation laws recognize that there are times when the injured worker loses faith in who their doctor really cares about and that they will want to have another doctor take over their treatment; that is why the law allows an injured worker to request a Panel of Four Doctors. From this panel, the injured worker is allowed to choose one to be their new treating physician-however, you may only request a Panel of Four one time (twice if the injured worker requests a surgical panel if surgery is recommended and you want a second opinion).

Most injured workers do not know much about the doctors provided in their panel. Having the advice of an experienced workers compensation lawyer can be invaluable at this juncture, as some of the panel doctors have a definite bent in favor of the workers compensation provider.

If you have been hurt at work in Alabama and have questions about your right to workers compensation benefits, don't hesitate to contact and speak with one of the experienced Alabama Workmans Compensation lawyers at Powell and Denny today.
