Alabama Workers Compensation Law Is Change on the Way

Alabama Workers Compensation Law Is Change on the Way

Alabama Workers Compensation Law Is Change on the Way: In the wake of the NPR/ProPublica series of reports on the status of workers compensation laws in America, and after showing that Alabama's workers compensation benefits are the lowest in the country, earlier this month a bill amending Alabama's Workers Compensation Statue was introduced by State Senator President Pro Tem Del Marsh and Sen. Cam Ward, both Republicans.

Currently the proposed bill is in before the Senate Committee on Fiscal Responsibility and Economic Development. While the proposed bill is just that-a proposal-it is a good sign for Alabama Workers. The Senators who submitted the bill understand that a lot of work is still needed in a "give and take" involving injured workers', business and doctors, but the blistering reports issued last month aren't enough; it is vital that Alabama citizens contact their State Representatives to demand better for Alabama Workers.

I have read some posts which cast doubt on whether there is sufficient Legislative will to address our woefully inadequate workers compensation laws, but if enough voters express a desire for better workers compensation benefits for injured workers, then it is possible.

Please contact your Representative and let them know that Alabama Workers deserve better!

If you suffered a work injury and you have questions about your right to Alabama Workers Compensation benefits, don't hesitate to contact and speak with one of the experienced Alabama Workers Comp Lawyers at Powell and Denny today.
