Alabama Workers' Compensation Attorneys Walmart is at it again

Alabama Workers' Compensation Attorneys Walmart is at it again: We have written several blogs explaining how aggressive (and conniving) Wal-Mart can be when it comes to their employees suffering job injuries and how-if you have suffered a serious injury-it really is in your best interest to at least consult with an experienced Alabama Workman's Compensation attorney if you work in Alabama. Apparently, they are not satisfied with their past actions, as now they are spearheading movements to effectively destroy workers compensation laws State to State (and Alabama is on their short list of States to "invade")(click here for the report).

Walmart and other corporate giants (Lowes, Nordstrom, etc.) have financed a lobbying group- the Association for Responsible Alternatives to Workers' Compensation (ARAWC)- that has already helped write pending legislation in Tennessee. ARAWC's-and that of their members-goal "is to pass laws allowing private employers to opt out of the traditional workers' compensation plans that almost every state requires businesses to carry. Employers that opt out would still be compelled to purchase workers' comp plans. But they would be allowed to write their own rules governing when, for how long, and for which reasons an injured employee can access medical benefits and wages."

Destroying workers compensation laws makes more money for corporate giants like Wal-Mart, but at the expense of the bodies of their employees.

Wal-Mart made $127 BILLION in profits in 2014, so obviously they are not in danger of going belly up anytime soon, so why attack the lowly benefits injured workers are entitled to receive through their State's workers' compensation laws?

Greed. Pure and simple. The good part is that Walmart and friends do not have the ability to unilaterally do anything to any State's workers compensation laws; the bad thing is that their money influences a lot of lawmakers; lawmakers who don't generally know about-and honestly don't care about-the rights or circumstances of injured workers.

Please, contact your Legislators and let them know that Alabama workers deserve better.

If you were hurt at work and you have questions about your right to Alabama Workers' Compensation benefits, don't hesitate to contact and talk to one of the experienced Alabama Workers' Compensation Attorneys at Powell and Denny today.
