We Work When You Can't

We Work When You Can't--I just want to go back to work. The majority of calls we receive from injured workers do not occur shortly after a job injury has occurred; rather, the injured worker generally calls us when they have been told that they cannot work due to their job injury.

Over the last 22 years of handling workers compensation claims throughout Alabama, I have learned that the vast majority of injured workers want no more that the medical treatment they need to allow them to get back to full duty work as soon as possible. Most of our clients work hard and enjoy working hard as a way of supporting their families. They want to work, not spend time in a doctor's office. This fact was borne out in a recent study of job injuries throughout American which showed that only 21% of reported job injuries resulted in the injured worker missing time from work. This means that in nearly 80% of all cases where a worker is hurt at work, they do not miss time from work; they tough it out. And this study dealt only with "reported" job injury claims; it did not take into account the hundreds of cases throughout the county where the injured worker never makes a workers comp claim-generally at the request of their employer (POINT: this is not a good idea-for my thoughts why it isn't a good idea to work out an informal agreement with your employer see our other blogs on this subject). If those who have been hurt at work were only interested in money, this figure would be much higher. Only when they have been informed by a doctor or their employer that they cannot work due to a work injury do most injured workers even think of speaking with an attorney.

At Powell and Denny we respect hard work and the workers' who do it. We understand that the overwhelming majority of injured works just want to go back to work. Our job it to try to help you achieve this goal as quickly as possible.
