Can I get disability benefits for Wilson's Disease Huntsville Disability Lawyer

Can I get disability benefits for Wilson's Disease Huntsville Disability Lawyer: Wilson's Disease (also known as hepatolenticular degeneration) is a rare inherited disorder that prevents your body from getting rid of extra copper. While you need a small amount of copper from food to stay healthy, too much copper is poisonous.

Normally, your liver releases extra copper into bile, a digestive fluid. With Wilson disease, the copper builds up in your liver, and it releases the copper directly into your bloodstream. This can cause damage to your brain, kidneys, and eyes.

Wilson disease is present at birth, but symptoms usually start between ages 5 and 35. It first attacks the liver, the central nervous system or both. The most characteristic sign is a rusty brown ring around the cornea of the eye. A physical exam and laboratory tests can diagnose it.

Common symptoms include: clumsiness, depression, speech problems, difficulty swallowing, drooling, fatigue, involuntary shaking, joint pain, appetite loss, nausea, skin rashes, arm and leg swelling and jaundice.

When diagnosed early, the disease it treatable, but if allowed to progress, the accumulated cooper can become life-threatening.

The Social Security Administration lists Wilson's Disease as a condition which can be disabling when the symptoms interferes with the persons ability to engage in sustained work activity.Listing 5.00 in the Code of Federal Regulations lays out in specifics the impairments which a sufferer has to have in order to qualify for Social Security Disability Benefits, however, if you do not "meet or equal" this listing, you may still be entitled to disability benefits if your condition, in conjunction with any other physical or mental impairment, prevents you from returning to work you have done in the past and other substantial work you might be qualified to perform given your age, education and acquired work skills.

If you or a loved one lives in or around Madison County, you are suffering from the effects of wilsons disease and you believe you are disabled as the result and are entitled to Social Security Disability or SSI benefits, you do not have to take on the Social Security Administration alone.
