Hurt at Work Birmingham I hurt my neck at work

Hurt at Work Birmingham I hurt my neck at work: Neck injuries can be scary. We have all seen a movie where someone is killed or paralyzed after suffering a neck injury, and some of us have family or friends who have suffered serious neck injuries and we know how devastating they can be if the nerves are permanently injured.

Unfortunately, it is not always easy to know whether a neck injury is merely a pulled muscle or crick in the neck, or something more serious like a herniated disk or ruptured disk. We have had cases in the past where the injured worker thought that they just had a catch in their neck which would work itself out, but after days of neck pain and increasing headaches they were informed that they had a serious injury which required immediate surgery. That is why we always tell everyone who calls us with a question about their neck injury to be sure to report their injury to their employer as soon as possible so they can receive immediate medical attention. As we all know, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

For those seriously injured, surgery may be suggested. These days it seems as though the workers compensation carrier will go to extremes in an attempt to avoid paying for surgery, even when the law is clear that they have to pay for any and all reasonably necessary medical treatment--including surgery. They fight this even though most neck surgeries go off without a hitch and leave the injured worker in a much better state of being, because at the end of the day, their bottom line is profit, not your well-being.
