Birmingham Workers Compensation Lawyers Can my boss force me to see the doctor on my time

Birmingham Workers Compensation Lawyers Can my boss force me to see the doctor on my own time: We have received numerous calls though the years from injured workers who are upset because their employer makes them see the company doctor or attend physical therapy during their off time. They want to know if their boss can force them to do this.

Yes, if it is possible for your to do so. If you can still perform your job duties given your injuries, or if your employer has made accommodations for your injuries and you are working for pay, then your employer can ask that any doctor appointments or physical therapy appointments be made during your off hours. Having stated this, the doctor or therapist must also be available to see you during these hours. If you work from 8:00 am. - 5:00 p.m. and the doctor's office closes at 5:00, then you obviously cannot make it in to see the doctor and your employer must allow you to schedule your appointments at a time in which you can be seen, even if it is during "office hours." However, just because seeing the doctor during work hours is more convenient for you is not a sufficient reason to force your employer to let you leave early.
