We Work When You Can't Huntsville Workers' Compensation Lawyers

We Work When You Can't is our slogan at Powell and Denny and it is one we claim under trademark rights. We did a search and no other lawyers in the U.S. were using this slogan. Why is this important to us?

We came up with this slogan to represent how we really feel about representing our client's. It is part of our advertising campaign and it is also the way we do business. To back up our claims we wrote our own book on the subject. In this series of post we will put portions of our book on line so you can see what we mean when we say:

We are lawyers who work when you can't.

Entry 11:

Third, you must show that you suffered an on-the-job injury

while performing your job duties for your employer. Injuries

caused by a worker goofing off or engaging in horse play or injuries

caused by the worker being under the influence of alcohol and/

or drugs are not considered injuries sustained while performing

your job duties and are not covered. However, since Alabama's

workers' compensation laws are no-fault in nature, the fact that

the injured worker accidentally contributed to his injury does not

prevent him from seeking and receiving workers' compensation

benefits. For example, if a worker is not paying attention to where

he is and falls off a ledge, he usually is not prohibited from receiving

workers' compensation benefits even though the accident

was his fault; however, if the worker fell off a ledge due to being

intoxicated, that is another matter.
