William V. Powell, Jr.: Mr. Powell graduated from the University of Alabama in 1989 and is a 1992 graduate of Cumberland School of Law. He was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in September of 1992 and to the Tennessee State Bar in March 1994. Mr. Powell has also been admitted to the U.S District Court for the Northern District of Alabama and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Mr. Powell’s primary areas of focus have been in the field of Workers’ Compensation, Social Security Disability, SSI and claims for Personal Injuries. Mr. Powell is currently President of the Birmingham Bar’s Workers’ Compensation section, past President of the Alabama Associations for Justice Workers’ Compensation Section, a member of the Alabama Workers’ Compensation Organization (AWCO), a member in the National Organization of Social Security Representatives (NOSSCR), a member of the Alabama and Tennessee State Bar Associations, a member of the Birmingham Bar Association, a member of the Alabama Association for Justice, a member of the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation, a member of the Tom Robinson Society Workers’ Compensation Group and a member of the Alabama State Bar Workers’ Compensation Section. Mr. Powell has been certified as an “Advocate” by the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and has spoken at various seminars on issues dealing with Alabama’s Workers’ Compensation law.
